Length is a funny thing - you don't really need to restrict yourself, unless you're making it specifically for a broadcast time slot. How long is always going to depend on what you want to say. Beginning,middle,end. The hardest bit is finding a song that fits.
If you want to challenge yourselves, try editing to 15, 30 and 60 seconds long - those are standard timeslots for TV ads worldwide. i think you can buy down to 5 seconds on some channels now, but i don't think we should cheapen ourselves.
Seven: 1:40 is very specific ??? - 7 x 20" is 1:40 ... my average lap in an xrg ... that's all i got
