Blocking or not | Example - Sainted - 10-25-2016

After 19 years of simracing, I finally realize that I don't have a clue what many people call blocking.

Attached is a replay of my battle with Monza this evening. 1st lap of the race, I slipstream by, clear him and then take the normal racing line. The guy gets quite mad, tries a bonzai move, which goes wrong, and then throws his toys out of the pram.

In my view I did nothing wrong and never impeded the progress of a fellow competitor. Similar moves are being done all the time in real racing.

I would appreciate if you all could share your views: have I done anything wrong, or should I have continued on the inside line up until the corner?

I can't view the replay at work, but from what you say - if you overtook him completely before moving back to the outside of the track for the entry to the corner, you are fine. It's the responsibility of the following driver to regulate their speed safely through the corner without contact.

I'll have a proper look when I get home tonight.

Hello Sainted,

I reviewed the replay. You did nothing wrong.

RE: Blocking or not | Example - Seven - 10-26-2016

I'm in agreement with Fnatic. You performed a very good overtake and moved back in flawlessly, he tried to get around you, completely missed the latest braking point by a country mile and then drove himself off the track to rage at you for performing a good quality overtake.

Gold star for that pass and not responding to him, best thing to do - gives him no fuel to be abusive! Solid driving in the rest of the replay as well. Smile

"Blocking" by definition, is exactly that. Swerving around deliberately to stop someone passing you, e.g. you go to make an overtake and the car in front swerves in front of you - that is blocking. You performed an overtake, returned to the racing line at which point you had full entitlement to it and should not have tried to pass at the point he was at. He could have easily taken you out.
