Zig-zag driving [questions] - Unicorn - 09-26-2020
Fact. Little chance to overtake XRG rider if he the level of a Pro. Try to sit on the tail in a straight line, capturing his slipstream.
There are unscrupulous riders who use zig-zag techniques. Shake them off and move from one side of the road to the other several times.

1. How is zig-zag driving penalized?
2. What actions should be taken by the administrator on the server?
3. What is the penalty for an administrator who refuses to make a decision and doesn't watch the replay?
4. Which of the AA administrators should do this, at the time of being on the server, whose responsibilities it is. (There were times when they said, "this doesn't concern me. get away from me. let me chase"). Is this all part of the Xabales authority?

For now there isn't strict rule about slalom driving, usually limads have the freedom to pick the penalty for such driving. I usually give from DT penalty to spectate based on how severe it is.

Zig zagging move in order to lose someone trying to catch a draft is regulated by our racing rules and it is not allowed. Any limad3 or higher has the ability to issue any penalty he sees fit. In most cases, a warning and a DT will do just fine. An admin is not obligated to do any actions on our servers. He should, however, intervene if the racers are not able to figure things out on their own and demand justice.
Another very important thing - our team members (admins) are just racers like anyone else, this is not our job and we are not getting paid for policing the server. Everything we do is voluntary and we want to make fun and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Let me play the devil's advocate on that.
If you zigzag to break the tow and your opponent is not in your direct proximity this falls into the first part of rule O-5:
"Ahead drivers have the right to choose any line down a straight."
The second part of the rule says:
"The ahead driver may make one move to block the opposing car, and one move to return to the racing line before the next corner - Unless the opposing car has overlap."
IMO this rule should be interpreted exactly this way - if you move across to break the tow - fair play, if you move across to actively block someone making an overtake - that's a no-no unless you do it once right before the next corner and being still ahead.
The judgement should be (and in, for example, F1 is) based on who moved first. If someone is behind you and you move first - it's ok, but if someone is going to start overtaking and you, seeing that, move - that's not ok.

you would have to expose with a new rule that: Every driver who goes 1 has the right to choose the line, and can only make one U-turn before reaching the next curve.

It is quite clear what zig-zagging means - it is any action that is more than 2 changes of lanes, while there is another car close behind and it is not allowed.

Close behind assumes a distance and relative speeds that allow the car behind to catch up using the draft created by the car in front. So yes, sometimes 0.5-1.0 car lengths can be enough.

I'm pretty sure that this rule prohibits prolonged zig-zag. Doing it once is within limits, more than once and is safety problem.
